View Setter is not a free program. It is copyrighted software. You may try it out for 30 days, at which point you must either get rid of it or fill out the registration form and send it along with US Funds. For more info, read the registration form.
Minimum Requirements to run View Setter.
View Setter is an Applescript™ 1.1 script, which scripts the finder, so, unless you have system 7.5, which includes everything you need to run this program, you will need the following to use this utility: System 7.1, Applescript™ 1.1 and it's scripting additions, and the Finder™ Scripting addition.
If you have the APDA Applescript Developers Kit, you should have eveything that you need to run the program. If you don't, and would love to check this program out, contact them. Otherwise, you are going to have to wait until System 7.5 is made available.
What is View Setter?
I decided to create View Setter as a way to teach myself Applescript™. It basically organizes, cleans up, and staggers all of the windows of all the folders on whatever volume you want it to. I created it because I was tired of having to organize, clean up, and stagger the windows on my workstation. I would get frustrated when someone would come along and mess up the windows on the computers here at work, so I wrote View Setter to do it for me. Now, when I see that the windows have been tampered with, I just run view setter and viola! The windows are nice and clean, and I don't have to go all over the place to search for something because I know where it is.
Directions For Use:
The use of View Setter is very simple. After you launch the program,
follow these simple steps:
The First Time You Run It:
a) Choose the View Setter window (cmd v)
b) Choose a folder that you wish to clean up.
c) Choose an icon you wish to view your windows by.
d) Choose a way you wish to clean up your windows.
e) Click the OK button, and you are set. Go take a break.
the first time you run it, it will take a while because it has to clean up the whole volume. depending on how many folders you have, it may take a while.
After your first run through, which will be slow, then you will see how useful View setter actually is. The next time you install software or create a new folder, use View Setter. If you mess up one of your windows, and you want it organized and in the right location, run View Setter and check out the pop up menu that will let you just clean up a single folder without cleaning up its subfolders. It works great with floppy's, syquests, hard drives, and single folders that have just been installed!
